One of the first things that we do when we are looking for a new piece of gym equipment is look  what other people have thought of the item that we wish to buy. Being a reasonably new style of machine, after all treadmills, cycles and steppers have all been on the market for some time, you would expect that elliptical reviews would throw up some remarkable differences across product ranges. However, since most of the manufacturers are the same as those who produce the other kinds of machine, elliptical reviews only reveal that the trends are the same as in other areas – there are those which are low cost, low featured, and those which are high cost, with many features.

So, what are the things to look out for when reading a collection of elliptical reviews? As with all other gym equipment, it is good to look for construction quality, variety of work out plans, and user interface clarity. Some things you will not be able to measure without looking at an actual display unit, so it is a good idea to go to a dealer and look at the machine in the flesh. Of course, the best deals will still only be found on the internet, but sometimes you just have to go and see one for yourself.

To narrow down the field a little bit, be sure that the elliptical reviews that you read cover the major areas of control and display. You need to be able to control all aspects from the central console (such as variable resistance and pitch), which needs to lay out information in a clear and concise manner.
